Emma and Lucie are drawing. Emma draws a beautiful princess named Aurora, who has fallen asleep because of an evil fairy spell. Emma looks at what little sister Lucie draws. Lucie says she's drawing a kitty, but Emma says it is just a scribble, which (of course) ticks Lucie off. Just then, Scribble (Lucie's kitty drawing) becomes curious about Emma's princess drawing. Lucie follows him as he enters Emma's picture, where he falls deeply in love with Princess Aurora. He knows he must rescue her, which he does, after a bit of a struggle with the thicket that has grown up around her. And even though Emma decrees that a princess and a kitty can never get married . . .well, they do, anyway.
This is a delightful, different, and funny story. The illustrations vary, from a comic strip treatment to the wild childlike drawings of Aurora and Scribble, and back again. Young artists with great imaginations (and the adults who read to them) will get a big kick out of SCRIBBLE. Highly recommended.
